Southpark Studios In Quiktime Player

stay in southern Spain XVI (with Elchi)

walk to Cabo de Palos (E) (Saturday, 12/02/2011)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 18 degrees / Wind: 1 to 3 HE

Long before we had to walk along with Anne Marie and Wolfgang times the port of Cabo de Palos ", to enjoy coffee and cake in there comfortably. Although it is predicted for the afternoon some wind, so we decide today on this three-hour trip. Past fortified English Fincas ;-) we target the Mediterranean coast between La Manga and Cabo de Palos "on.

The vast salt pans we use the left hand.

After three quarters of an hour we are already on the promenade, which leads out to the lighthouse and to the endless beach of the Mediterranean overlooking "La Manga".

Everywhere we light up on the roadside opposite colorful flowers.

From the lighthouse we take the walk along the cliffs, we are with our bicycles down recently before, to the small promenade of "Cabo de Palos.

Because of the increasing wind from the south, we can enjoy the café not live on the terrace, although the thermometer reads at least 17 degrees. On the way back we see in the distance, like a handful of surfers from the camp struggles in vain to get on the plane.

The wind moves like yesterday 2-3 Beaufort. Delete already unnerved some of their sails and amble with their surf stuff again. We have certainly not missed anything ;-)

Tonight we are a long time once again at the restaurant "Maribel" as a guest. There is something to celebrate :-) The veranda overlooking the golf course area well until the summer or in "Full House" occupied.

We enjoy the delicately prepared dishes, excellent service and pleasant ambience of the recommended restaurants.

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Sunday, 13/02/2011)
Weather: nice / Temp: 19 degrees / Wind: 3 to 7 HE

For the past 18 days We have not had a real strong wind more, but all the nicer weather. Since the beginning of the year it has rained only once briefly. The floors have long since dried up and get their moisture only through the morning dew. Actually, the winter months here in southern Spain, the "wet" months with above average number of rainy days. Of these, we realize this year literally nothing.

things come to those who wait. An afternoon with super slide Twind is before us and to temperatures around 19 degrees. As we sit in the early afternoon with Karen on the terrace of the beach restaurants and relish sipping our coffee, our "guinea pig" Klaus is 8.9 m2 sail with his already sliding.

Since "Wind Guru" and "Wind Finder consistently increasing wind from noon until the night before to say, we wait patiently for some time until we come with our largest sailing on the plane. Meanwhile, we look to the numerous Spaniards present, enjoy the Sunday afternoon as a family.

Then after a clock seems to us the wind that has now risen to 3 HE, to be worthy surf. For an hour we glide with our 7.2 and 6.0 m2 by the pirate bay.

then refresh the southwest wind, which is supported by the local thermal belonging to. A sail change to 6.0 or 5.5 m2 brings only pass a discharge. Soon, we still have to switch a gear and go to 5.5 or 5.0 m2.

It does not take long, because we are out sailing too high. With the 4.7 m2 sail and 85 liter Naish board I would be comfortable on the road been. Instead, I fight myself, like many others, for another hour rather overpowered by the bay.

first of five clock, we return with glowing eyes and weary arms to the beach.

happy faces testify to the great day of surfing.

Because of the still very strong wind we take each sail individually in our plot.

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Monday, 14/02/2011)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 18 degrees / wind 5 to 8 HE (NW)

the "Mar Menor" this morning with "White horses" covered.

The wind has shifted overnight to northwest, blowing in the morning with gusts up to 8 HE across the Mar Menor. William, Paul and Frank are on hand with their wind gauges and measurements available on the bank of 30 knots.

Meanwhile, wind gusts whipped across the beach and flying sand flies up through the palm forest.

The elongated clouds are evidence of strong winds aloft, preceding the Depression, which we will cross over the next few days.

at eleven clock we are with our smallest material on the water. First with the 5.0 and later with the 4.2 m2 sail and 85 liter Naish board goes off the post.

full three hours, we enjoy ourselves with the constant strong northwest wind, building a beautiful about a meter high wave.

As if on command, he can then, after a sudden. The late risers are flush with their surfing equipment on the beach when we leave them. "Those who are late are punished by life."

The wind is now only 2-3 with slack HE

We make ourselves under his seat on the terrace and watch the hustle and bustle.

After all, the wind seems to rest for a short time so that at least pays a little "Gleitfeeling", albeit with large sails.

"Why are we not used the water," may have said to Klaus Günter.

Winfried is meanwhile set a fin (it currently has little water in the Mar Menor) by his "speed trip" somewhat dismayed back.

For tomorrow another strong winds of up to 7 letter from the southwest is called for. However, to many clouds and rain are forecast. Let's see if it's arriving ...

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Tuesday, 15/02/2011)
weather: rain and rain / temp: 14 degrees / Wind: 5 to 7 Bf . (SW)

Actually we had had all day surfing great wind between 5 to 7 HE. The rainy weather we and most other wind surfers do not feel to Mute. After a short shopping in Cabo de Palos "once again a place a" dolce far niente "day. In the afternoon we visit Brigitte and Klaus paid a visit. You want to like to burn CDs from its 34 best songs on new CDs. Thus, at least our notebook full employment today :-)

Towards evening the sky brightens and the picturesque sunset announced back in nicer weather.

Under the motto, you can treat yourself even approve nothing else, we are a pizza restaurant in the beach ;-)

Photo of the Day: We put on the roof a mobile home at our campsite but actually discovered my first "Mistral windsurfing competition" from 1980 ;-)

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Wednesday, 16/02/2011)
weather: wait can be 5-8 HE (SW)

The wind today is: nice to cloudy / Temp: 18 degrees / wind. He should already blown at noon with 4 letter from the southwest. But until two clock the wind is strong enough so that we can directly drive off with the 6.0 or 5.5 m2 sail.

After an hour with a relatively uniform and comfortable Wind 4-5 HE refresh this surprisingly quickly to 6 to 7 HE. I switch directly to the 4.7 m2 and saddle my little "Naish" 85 liters. Anita is on land because they like the gusty wind now not so. This does have its advantages. It seem sometimes in between photos of me in the travel diary ;-)

two hours more we heat the pirate bay and have a lot of fun.

Then the wind picks up and reaches peak in the 8 limit HE, as forecast by "Wind Guru" and "Wind Finder. We have struggled to bring our material back safely plot.

also a magical sunset a must of course not :-)

It will be a restless night with wind speeds up to 8 Beaufort. We lashed down all our sails and boards, and check the rigging of our precautionary measure kitchen tent and the wind protection planning. Then good night ...

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Thursday, 2/17/2011)
Weather: beautiful and funny / Temp: 18 degrees / Wind: 6 to 8 HE ( NW)

the same game as yesterday: By the afternoon, we eagerly await to the recently announced strong wind. Even a clock Karin and Klaus are waiting with their windsurfing equipment on the shore.

Then, finally, at half past one clock approaching from the northwest, a dark stripe. Reinhard can make through his binoculars whitecaps. It may be only a matter of minutes before our bay is blessed by the wind. Karin and Klaus drive off and mark the "guinea pigs".

The wind takes but a short time to already massive and blows with 5 HE over the "Mar Menor" when we arrived with our little wagon surf on the beach. Klaus with his 8.0 m2 sail already overpowered and controls the saving bank.

But the wind turns even further. We start immediately with our 5.0 and 4.7 m2 sail.

lays After a beautiful hour to the wind once more and now reaches winds 7-8 Beaufort. Flying the blowing sand on the beach left behind the ears.

helmet is an absolute obligation in this wind strengths. Franz has the typical prison look.

I've long since switched to the 4.7 m2 sail and Anita is on Shore. However, the smaller sail me is now too big. The 4.2 m2 is on our lot, so I'm fighting with my overpowered sail through the meter-high waves.

the "Mar Menor" has become a foaming sea.

Michael, a wild Englishman riggt with thunderous wind directly on the shore.

We now browsing intrigued on the Finn ;-)

The audience looks on the banks of Michael, he also provides 7 to 8 HE still great leaps.

leave after another two hours, not only the Wind after, but our forces.
Another fantastic day of surfing is coming to an end. Tomorrow it will be only 4-5 HE. For many of today's wind was too strong, and so is the anticipation of tomorrow.

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Friday, 18/02/2011)
Weather: very nice / Temp: 20 degrees / Wind: 4 to 5 HE (SW)

The day we are greeted with a cloudless sky. It will be a Prachtstag and also the sixth consecutive day with strong wind :-) At eleven clock, we would like to take advantage of the slowdown in North West wind. But it is only a short spell. We are hardly on the plane and take our surf stuff in half an hour just decided to return to our plot. Instead, we prefer to enjoy the warm sun and read a book.

the afternoon during the coffee break on the terrace of the beach restaurants, we are intent to Lia, as she tried to get on the plane.

The wind has now turned to the southwest and gradually builds up again, so we drive a little hasty in our surf stuff to the beach. First, we bob up despite great sails and boards, along with many others as a wind-seekers by the bay.

But then after about half an hour the wind died down and we glide on evenly 3-4 Beaufort wind over the water. The Pirate Bay is back in Surfers hand.

At five clock can I even switch to the 6.0 m2 sail and 105 liter Lorch me again and let off steam for half an hour. To top off the day we go along with Brigitte and Klaus to the Chinese restaurant "La Manga" eat.

Another Chinese restaurant in Cabo de Palos "had not some time ago, very confident. We are the first time in this restaurant, and are surprised from the nice service and good value for money of the "Restaurante Gran China Murala.

Another amazing day at the "Mar Menor" is ending.
