all different, but they have one thing in common: they are independent bookshops, and not part of a chain.
The independent bookstore is a dying phenomenon in the Netherlands. With difficulty
they keep their heads above water, eg by specializing in a particular genre or a niche market.
newsmagazine Fri Netherlands devotes doubly crocus in the latest issue (on sale two weeks that is), a report on. This
'fotoducument "is Daan van Nauta Welboren book to admire. The bookstore in
Parkstraat recently received a professional photographer with an expensive 'technical cameras visit.
Welboren figures in a carefully staged portrait, surrounded by books. In the foreground
five art books, but also the Nauta-edition "Hersch Monkey Island '. A hammer
stimulates curiosity.
"The photographer asked if we had a special object, "says Welboren.
"This hammer is eighty years old. We use it in the design of the window. It's Jook
of Nauta's father. "
Incidentally, Nauta Book clashes with the story. She suffers no
ignored, and makes' s period of prosperity and growth.
