stay in southern Spain VI (with Elchi)
windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Saturday, 27/11/2010)
Weather: overcast and rain / temp: 14 degrees / Wind: 3 to 4 HE
With 14 degrees maximum temperature and continuous rain from noon on this day so far the coolest and wettest of our stay in southern Spain. It can only get better. Nevertheless, there are a few lunatics who use the moderate wind for windsurfing and kiteboarding. We hold back and devote ourselves instead to the budget. In addition to this the number of photos from our cruise are sorted and processed in order to later present a slide show.

On the night of: 17 degrees / Wind rain stopped and the new day welcomes us with sunshine already :-)
The sky cleared in the mountains.
Only the pools of water are evidence of recent rain.
We will visit again the Sunday market in Cabo de Palos "to buy a few things.
There is almost always true to other campers.

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Wednesday, 01/12/2010)
Weather: cloudy to beautiful / Temp: 16 degrees / Wind: 3 to 5 HE
Within the last week we had to endure incredible three rainy days. This is the monthly quota of rain days for the area being exploited today :-) now seems at last to blows and the sun has yet to surf a decent wind from the southwest.
In the "Pirate Bay" again dominating proceedings, albeit with relatively large sailing. The wind is too unstable for him to enjoy small surf equipment.
Still, it was for many, once again a beautiful day with pleasant temperatures.
Photo of the Day: Christmas atmosphere also with us :-)
Camping at Mar Menor (E) (Thursday, 2/12/2010)
Weather: nice / Temp: 16 degrees / Wind: 2 to 4 HE
The cold air from central and northern Europe now seems to be the way to southern Spain to have found. With only 9 degrees plus we measure this morning a new low temperature. And it is in the next few days, a few degrees to get colder. The southern English sun heats the air in the day but again to a comfortable temperature. So we reach today, the 16 degree line (at the sun or warmer), so that we can take our lunch, even in T-shirts.

windsurfing on Mar Menor (E) (Friday, 12/03/2010)
Weather: nice / Temp: 13 degrees / wind 5 to 6 HE
A starry night and bring us to a North West flow, the lowest temperatures so far this winter. We measure only 5 degrees above zero. Near the ground it should be even less. The heaters run this morning to race and it's the first frost on car windows and of the cover of our scooter.
pull even at sunrise temporarily clouds and create a charming Christmas spirit :-)
for our morning Nordic Walking round, we must first dig out our winter gloves and hats from the box.
From ten clock is high winds predicted and actually starts on time, a strong wind from the northwest over the "Mar Menor" to blow. We take first a visual inspection, to start immediately with the right material.
John and a English wind surfers are taking on the role of "guinea pig" (trial pig).
We already have a measure wind force 5-6 letter with the 5.0 m2 sail I'm with you. Anita finds it too cold. The air and the "Mar Menor" are now only 13 degrees hot and cold (pure coincidence :-) will be warm while the Mediterranean after all, still 18 degrees. Such a great constant wind, I can not remain idle over, withdraw, that is purely in the warm neoprene, and keeps up on the board what it takes jibe.
When the cold water of the water works start very quickly :-)
The waves in this wind direction is very uniform and up to one meter high. The descending the shaft makes a lot of fun and successful jumps and jibes easily.
leaves after three clock the wind gradually subsided. Who is late is left with the way: There are always those who come to the notoriously late. It was another great day on the water :-)

Gangster on Spain's highways
further attacks on the A7 and AP7
The theme of "gangster on Spain's highways" is, unfortunately, this year absolutely current. In the car with a caravan camping neighbors was shot in the journey out to Spain even, which remains unclear. Anyway, there was a loud bang and there was a cloud of dust on impact. The point of impact of the projectile was a small indentation to recognize. It could have been a small-caliber gun or a slingshot. There was a breakdown through the rear door of the car did not fortunately. wanted to take
as those on the next rest stop a visual inspection of the damage, you have been through the three most crooks have stolen the same handbag from the car, a not very pleasant event. Even worse, however, we feel the strange behavior of the English police, who the incident not recorded initially wanted to. Like last year, is also obtained here, the uncomfortable feeling that the police did not react with the seriousness attached and the necessary commitment to the crimes.
Another couple were victims while refueling at a motorway service station. The gangsters were able, despite great care in the affected tire damage such that they had to make a few hundred meters on the highway a tire change. The mint tire was obviously a sharp object had been pierced. The driver had indeed seen a person who had approached the side of the vehicle during fueling operations, but this fact paid too little attention. We suspect that the damage was the tire with sharp nails or knives that have been incorporated into the shoes of the gangsters. The two cases described
represent only the tip of the iceberg dar. It should have overtaken this year, thousands of travelers on highways in Spain, a similar fate. Preventive care measures are a first step to protect themselves and their property from such thugs.
Affected individuals on the A7, especially in the "Barcelona and Tarragona, a telephone hotline has been established, shall also receive phone calls in German and an advisory capacity stands.

awning Omnistor 8000
We first go from our sun awning, not to keep around the sun, but to get dry feet from the motorhome. For a year we are proud owners of the new "Omnistor 8000" because our old Omnistor awning "by gales by a gust of over 100 km / h has been destroyed. The new "Omnistor 8000" includes a new lock to prevent the collapse of the joint arms effectively, ie additional tie rods therefore really superfluous.
Unfortunately, the correct operation is not in the enclosed instructions, yet we had the dealer informed. Only much later we added another "Omnistor owners' handling of the new design explained. We have therefore created a quick guide which we hereby make available.
And now the good news: We need on the nice weather and not long be able to enter our mid-morning already Sonnen-/Regen-Markise again :-) This time of year the sun even in southern Spain is not so intense that you should protect yourself with sun awning in front.
Eugene and I use the wonderful afternoon for a bike ride along the peninsula, "La Manga".
Although the temperature is only 19 degrees in the shade increases, the same wind-protected on the sun terrace determined to 25 degrees. So we can enjoy the café in peace and do not need to freeze :-)
